Feeling good about supporting artists
Last year I saw this on Instagram from @blackmoonprint:
Creatives are the ones that move society forward in all variations, and the more we keep them motivated to do new things, the better! So when and if you can, buy their work, commission them for projects, and if nothing else share their work with your friends. Every little bit helps!
It's advice I've been taking to heart. I've been making a conscious effort to support artists, mostly by being open to buying art that I love. Once I do buy something, I do love to share what I get so that hopefully I will encourage more interest in the work from that artist.
An awesome artist
I've been following @mo_saddiction for some time now, mostly because I love how she chooses to work with colors in her collage art.
After I discovered that she (her name is Maureen) has a website where she sells postcard-sized prints of her art, I knew I wanted to get some. I put in an order of less than $20, including shipping, and I got such an amazing package in the mail from Switzerland!
The kraft-colored envelope contained my letter and a fabulous book mark made with a vintage bank note! I almost want to put the book mark with my valuable papers, but I'd rather keep it on my shelf display so that I can see it every day, if I'd like.
The prints are wonderful. I'm not sure I want to use them up as postcards. I think I'd rather keep them and place them in one of my gluebooks. Here are a few of them.
I also got my very own original piece where I can see how she placed all the layers. This one is extra special. I'll need to think about how I want to display it.
I hope you'll check out Maureen's work for yourself and get some prints. They make wonderful mail-art postcards or covers for a handmade card and letter. Or you could decide to keep them for yourself and put some in journal pockets.
