Inspirational mail art

I've made some lovely friendships though Instagram. I love that I can be inspired everyday by amazing art and that I can be a part of conversations and art exchanges. I'm always looking for inspirational mail art, and so when I got the opportunity to exchange mail with two wonderful artists, @paperique and @papertalking, I jumped at it.

What follows below are a lot of fabulous photos. In addition to that is a video I took while opening everything. If you like what you see, stop by their shop to see what little treasures you might be interested in picking up. Let them know Margarete sent you ;-)

The first package

Let me start with Angelique, who is @paperique. These are photos she took of the mail she made for me. I'm sharing them with her permission. The envelope (top left), was filled with these lovely items.

A collection of ephemera-related art

My postcard says, "Does it spark joy?" I say, yes, it does! I never thought an illustration of a fish along illustrations of a violet, a dog, a butterfly, and a cigarette pack would make a good combination, but I was wrong. It definitely sparks joy!

A postcard created with several vintage elements

Here are some photos of one of the small matchbooks with its contents.

The second package

Next is what I received from Edith who is @papertalking.

A folio of vintage ephemera lies on a book

Let's have a look inside, shall we?

Several glassine envelopes were taken out of the folio and lie on top

The machine sewing around the perimeters is so lovely! Decorating the pockets I see trade cards, bus tickets, and postage stamps. What an awesome combination.

Both these lovely artists created a shop on Instagram where you can order online items and have them shipped to you. They are located in the Netherlands. Once you have a look, it's likely that you will want one of everything!

If you'd like to see me open everything from start to finish, I took a video of me doing so. I don't typically make these kinds of reveal videos, but the temptation was too great when I have these packages sitting on my desk unopened.
