It all started with the stars

It all started with the stars, many years ago... That's what I was thinking when I gazed upon this tiny box of foil-colored stars.

I came across this vintage box of foil stars at my local antique mall not too long ago. When I saw it, it brought back a memory I had of me peering into a dresser drawer in my grandmother's house. In the top drawer of a dresser in her guest bedroom, she had office supplies, which included foil-colored stars much like these ones. Hers were a little smaller, but the imprint was almost identical. I must have been no older than seven or eight, but I remember being fascinated by those little stars!

Of course I bought this little box of memories from the antique mall. I couldn't pass it up. Now that I have them at home, I want to incorporate them into pieces of collage art. Each star is like a little cheer. "Yay!" "Yippee!"  "Do something cool with me!" "You can do it!" "Aren't foil stars fun?"

They are definitely fun. I used a few to embellish these Rolodex cards that have color themes. I especially like the gold star on the red and orange themed card.

I used a silver star in this postcard collage. It's one small element, but it's effective.

Next I need to work on some green stars and red, of course.
