Sewing project – Table placemats

Document fabric placemats

I loved this document fabric and originally wanted to use it for curtains in one of our rooms.

One of the customer reviewers said they were going to use it for making table placemats and I liked that idea too. I had to think about what I wanted to do for the reverse and after a trip to my favorite fabric store, decided on a cool wasp material.

The document material is printed on a heavy cotton-weave material that looks pretty rough when it comes out of the dryer. I kind of like that course look but really do have to iron them before putting them back out on the table. Here’s the front and back.

I bought 2 yards and it was just enough for 8 placemats. Perfect for our large table.
