Discovering washi tape

washi tape - Japan

I’m trying to remember just how I heard about washi tape, but I don’t remember. If you don’t know what it is, it’s something like a decorative paper tape, similar to masking tape in that it’s not too sticky. It’s used for decorating, crafting, scrapbooking, etc. They were originally manufactured in Japan, but now they are made everywhere.

I first used it in my collage art class and really liked how effective it was and how easy it was to use.

There are all kinds of washi tape. I found some sets through etsy and ordered 6 rolls in total. They complement each other but work well alone.

Here are a couple of pages from my collage journal.
