Craft project – Wall clock

Target clock

Almost a year ago I picked up this clock at the Goodwill for $4. It was still in its original Target packaging, unopened. I thought that I might paint it and hang it up at home, but then never got around to it.

Now, since I had been thinking about teaching V about time, I decided that it would be fun to make a craft project for her to help me with. Paint it, decorate it, hang it up.

V loves painting. She would paint everyday if I’d let her. We have a glass with paintbrushes sitting on the kitchen counter and very often she asks me for those brushes so that she can dry brush things all over the house. When I showed her the clock and told her we were going to the craft store to buy paint, and then we would paint it, she was thrilled.

We went to our local Michael’s craft store for some cream-colored acrylic paint and some stickers. I had the idea of finding a big tree sticker and possibly some animal stickers to decorate it, but then couldn’t find what I was looking for. I did see some very pretty cherry blossom stickers, and then thought about the idea of putting some pretty butterflies on too, separated with little decorational frames.

I had some sticker numbers saved up from when I got them on sale. I painted them black so that they would be easier to see on the clock face.

Once the paint dried, I put the numbers on, glued down the frames, and then placed the blossom stickers.

I wanted V to help me with the butterflies, which we did the next morning (in the picture she’s still in her pajamas).
