Fascinated by the Dresden plate

There’s just something about the design of the Dresden plate. It’s such a simple concept — blades and a center, but with fabric it could be done in a million ways. The picture is a sample of one. This is not my own. I’m not quite there just yet.

This design is used most often in quilt making. I’m not interested in making a quilt from these, but in other things I could potentially create from them such as a place mat or table runner, or even a design on a bag.

I’ve found a great tutorial on making Dresden plates and it’s safe to bet I’ll be making one. If it goes well, I’ll be making several more until I get this desire to create them fulfilled.
