Wait

A few weeks ago V told me to wait while she ran off to get something. At first I didn’t understand what she said but she said it three times. Then after she said it and ran off, I understood what she said, but didn’t believe it, nor did I believe that she’d really come back. She did, with her teddy bear that she wanted to have with her while she practiced using the potty.

I was wondering where she learned the word wait and realized it must be from the many times we go down to the train station and watch the trains. Of course trains don’t come all that often and often I’ve told her, “There are no trains. We have to wait.”

That must be it.
