Recipe – The absolute best sugar-free cake, ever!

I found and tried THE BEST recipe for a sugar-free cake. Actually, I baked them in a 9 x 13 pan and they came out like brownies.

And the best part? No sugar, no sweetener, no honey, just naturally sweetened from the dates, prunes and raisins. I honestly didn’t think this would be that tasty, but it really is. I found the recipe online but made my own tweaks changing out the flour to whole wheat and adding wheat germ. Good stuff!

Date-Prune Cake


  • 1 cup dates (chopped)
  • 1 cup prunes(chopped)
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 teasp. salt
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Boil dates and prunes in the one cup of water for 3 minutes; add oil and raisins and let cool.

In a medium-sized bowl, mix the flour, soda, salt, eggs, nuts, spices and vanilla. Add the fruit mixture. Stir to
blend. Pour into baking pan.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes.
